How Our Faith Foundations Inspire Us Today

Written by Ebenezer | Aug 12, 2024

If you’re new to exploring senior living options for yourself or a loved one, you might be wondering what faith-based senior living communities are all about. At Ebenezer, we’re proud to be a community formed in faith, and today we continue to lean on faith-inspired love and charity through our Faith Foundations cornerstone. Here are three ways you’ll see our faith show up every day at Ebenezer.

We Believe in Every Person’s Eternal Value

Ebenezer was founded way back in 1917, when a community of Norwegian immigrants joined together to care for the poor and their fellow immigrants and to serve the seniors in their community. What inspired them? It was their Lutheran faith, which taught that all people are created in the image of God – imago Dei. Seeing one another as reflections of God with inherent and eternal value, Ebenezer’s founders were moved to serve passionately and with attention to every individual’s story and needs. Today, we bring the same level of care and compassion to our work. We see all of our residents as unique, special, and irreplaceable individuals, and our attentive care reflects our core belief that every individual is worthy of devoted service.

We Encourage Community Connections

Like Ebenezer’s founders, our community is stronger because we invite our residents to connect with each other around our ever-growing representation of faiths. When we share a belief system with a neighbor, it’s easy and natural for us to form deep connections and profound friendships. Sharing faith together can quickly turn into sharing life together – and those strong personal connections are key to creating vibrant communities like the ones we have at Ebenezer.

We Learn Together & Grow Together

At Ebenezer, we remain intentionally grounded in a faith-based mission to care for seniors and anyone in need. Over the years, the introduction of a wide range of faiths in our community has expanded and enriched our mission. While the majority of our residents identify as part of the Christian tradition, we’re proud and grateful to have religious diversity in our communities. Through our welcoming and diverse programming, we encourage every resident to pursue their own faith, and we create opportunities for learning and sharing about a range of faiths. Working together across faith traditions to care for one another and our neighborhoods is a huge part of what makes Ebenezer communities so special.
